The program will highlight the one-thousand-year connection between Turkish music and the music of the surrounding cultures from Eastern Europe to the Middle East. The first night of the two-day festival will feature Berklee professor Beth Bahia Cohen, master of regional bowed instruments, Carpe Diem String Quartet, one of America’s premiere “indie” string quartets, and Hoppa Project musicians. Pre-concert talk and showcase of instruments with the musicians at 7 PM January 17, 2020, 7:30 PM, Asia Society Texas Center Organized in partnership with the American Turkish Association of Houston and sponsored by Asia Society Texas Center and Rice University.
